Powers:
Ilyana's abilities let her create "stepping disks" to another dimension that she can use as a way to transport herself to different places and times. She can also use magic in Limbo, although she is untrained in it, and can use a scrying pool so that she can view events outside of Limbo. Sym, a demon from that realm, has befriended her and showed her the pool. I've changed his role from canon (I hope no one minds).
Appearance:
Illyana is a short girl with shoulder length blonde hair and bright blue eyes. When she smiles it's hard not to be charmed, especially since she's still losing baby teeth. Illyana is often seen wearing knits, skirts, cotton pants and strappy shoes because she can never seem to keep her laces tied. When on the move, she often totes around her yellow backpack.
Personality:
She's a happy and accepting child who is more likely to be curious in the face of danger rather than afraid. It explains the relative ease she had adapting to her mutation and Limbo, even if her father has had a harder time. Once Illyana considers someone a friend, she doesn't easily let them go. She doesn't understand people leaving her or people who get angry with her and tends to withdraw when someone hurts her. Although Illyana can be prone to tantrums now and then.
Belongings and pets: A yellow backpack with crayons, construction paper, usually a snack or two, and a stuffed bear. Sometimes she'll tote items from Limbo around in it too. The only 'pet' she has is Sym...if you count a demon as a pet.
History:
Born in Russia, Illyana lived with her parents and her brother Piotr on the Ust-Ordynski Collective Farm. She never knew Mikhail, since he left before she was born, but Illyana formed a close bond with her second oldest brother. He was "her favorite" and she was his "little snowflake". She wouldn't have changed anything about her life if life didn't change things for her. One day while playing in the fields, Illyana accidently got in the path of a tractor. She was saved by Piotr...who was wearing shiny metal skin. She liked it, thinking it was "pretty". Illyana didn't understand why others wouldn't like it. She also didn't understand why he had to leave her.
After Piotr left, Illyana became more withdrawn. Her parents worried for her. A year went by and Illyana started to tell her parents marvelous stories about demons and magic and how she could step into another world when she became lonely. When they pressed her with questions, Illyana said it was called "Limbo" and that she could go whenever she liked. It wasn't until Nicolai caught her stepping out of a disc-like portal one night that he decided to pack her up and send her to where her brother had gone. Xavier's School for the Gifted.
